Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) at Western Regional Medical Center (Western) celebrated with a presentation of a $1,000 check to help assist the campaign and awards ceremony on August 18th. This ceremony recognized the Dynamic, Intelligent, Passionate and Successful (DIPS) Team, members including: Molly Stockley, Dawn DeMers, David Fyke, Melissa Holdaway and Frank Saverino, who recently launched the Learn Don’t Burn, sun safety campaign, throughout the West Valley. The goal of the Learn Don’t Burn campaign is to educate residents of the West Valley on how to prevent skin cancer and other dangers related to sun exposure. Over 20, Learn Don’t Burn sunscreen stations have already been placed in many community areas including local parks, stadiums, public pools and schools in Goodyear, Surprise, Glendale and many more. An educational campaign has also been launched and includes public service announcements airing on local television stations. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the DIPS Team presented David Veillette, President and CEO of CTCA, a plaque in honor of CTCA’s sponsorship of the Learn Don’t Burn campaign. A plaque was also presented to Robert Stockley, President of Kristi Cares, the Kristina A. Stockley Melanoma Foundation, who will assume responsibility for management of the Learn Don’t Burn project.
